DAMIAN BURGESS

An award winning marketing master, graphic designer guru, event experience expert, fan engagement fanatic, a video marketing virtuosos and a website whizz! As well as all that fluff, I'm a Welsh International Squash player, keen cyclist, always looking to push my body to the limit, hard working, Welsh speaking family man, husband, dad, brother and son.

That's a 
brief few lines to describe myself, what I do and who I am in and out of work. Interested to know more? Read on.

BRANDS I'VE WORKED WITH

HOW IT STARTED

I've always been creative, always with a pencil and paper in hand from a young age, I lived for art class in school and as soon as we had a family computer at home I was glued to it from day one.

As well as drawing I have always loved sport, played and watched too many sports to name but football, formula 1, ice hockey, tennis, cycling, basketball and rugby have always been high on the list; squash was the out and out 
favourite. Started playing squash when I was 7 years old and was lucky enough to attend the British Open in Cardiff in 1997 to watch the pros, I've been hooked ever since.

Moving on from the simple pencil and paper I soon started using the family PC to draw and be creative using MS Paint (oh what a time that was) as well as using Microsoft Word and Excel to their creative limits. Finally in the mid to late 90's I managed to get my hands on Photoshop 4.0 or 5.0 and my designs were now cooking on gas, at least I thought they were.

Through school I tried to develop my skills, graphic design, computer science and art were my GCSE's and then I went on to study Interactive Motion Design at Glamorgan University. 

In my mid to late teens I was heavily involved in squash and squash clubs around South Wales, I created various marketing materiel for various clubs, posters, flyers and even some very basic websites. That's where my journey into marketing began.

CONTENT

As a pillar within marketing and key to many strategies no matter the size or scale of the business and across all industries and regions, content is indeed The King, or Queen.

I've created killer content for brands and businesses of all shapes and sizes, from ideas to 
implementation, creating the content myself or managing a team of creatives to create the desired outcome. From quirky and fun content to run-of-the-mill boring stuff that works and gets the job done.

Various content projects with photography, videography, written word, PR, graphics and more have been used in numerous marketing strategies when working with all businesses from B2B and BSC.

Each piece of content then used across various marketing channels within the marketing mix including social media, website, email and print to give each campaign the best possible chance of success.

I love creating new content for brands, from an idea and concepts to the creation of a campaign using that content.

SOCIAL MEDIA

If you're a business or a brand, you're on social media and marketing your service or product, it's an essential in any marketing mix.

How you manage your social media marketing will completely be unique to you and your business, you might be on all and every channel and posting all of the time or you may be fussy about what channels you use and how often you post.

As well as channels and posting frequency you may also choose to use organic only or you may venture into paid advertising across various channels.

I've worked with hundreds of brands, from creating pages, plans and strategies as well as managing profiles and managing ad creative and ad spend. Planning a budget for social media marketing as well as reporting on how that spend has turned into new business and profit.
