Losing a client

What? You're writing about losing a client?

Yes I am, it's not often you hear from any business about business they have lost but it happens so why not write about it.

It's great picking up new business and meeting new clients but that relationship will one day come to an end, hopefully a happy ending and 99% with me this has been true.

I have always been a reasonable business person, too reasonable on occasions I have been told. I have always kept one piece of advice close to hear too and that is never to burn bridges you may need to use in the future.

If a client no longer needs my services I have always found it easier to make sure the exit was as smooth as the entry, and in fairness on more than a dozen occasions clients have returned at a later date.

If you're a freelancer or small business and struggle with client losses then don't dwell on the matter, pick yourself up, dust yourself down and learn from it and move on, plus be nice; it is allowed in business.
