In the digital era, a football club’s voice is amplified through social media and content, and for ATFC, we needed to make that voice louder and more engaging. I led a revamp of the club’s social media strategy and content creation. We started telling the club’s story in more dynamic ways: behind-the-scenes videos, player interviews, eye-catching graphics, and bilingual content (English and Welsh) to include all of our community.

We also launched creative fan-centric campaigns, like interactive matchday posts and the league’s first-ever club sticker book for our supporters. The sticker book campaign, in particular, created a buzz, it was novel, nostalgic, and got even national press coverage for its originality. By increasing the frequency and quality of our posts, and engaging directly with fans online, we turned our social media pages into vibrant communities.
Skyrocketing online reach: Within a year, ATFC’s social media reach grew by over 150% across all channels. Our content was appearing in front of more eyes than ever before, significantly widening our audience.
Higher fan engagement: Social engagement (likes, comments, shares) increased by 44% compared to the previous year. Fans were not just watching – they were interacting. Each post became a conversation with supporters, leading to better fan-club relationships and feedback
Content innovations. The collectible sticker book release was accompanied by social media teasers and contests, driving fan excitement and sharing. This fresh content approach boosted our profile and gave fans more reasons to stay connected.
Bilingual and inclusive communication: By delivering updates in both Welsh and English, we embraced the local culture and made the club’s digital content accessible to all our supporters. This step was widely appreciated and even contributed to the club’s nomination for a Welsh Language Champion award.
Continuous growth: The combination of consistent branding, engaging storytelling, and active community management on social platforms has set ATFC on a continued upward trajectory online. Every month, we see new followers and higher interaction rates, laying a strong foundation for attracting sponsors (who love to see an active online fanbase) and young fans alike.
