Great work gets noticed. The innovative initiatives and improvements at Aberystwyth Town FC didn’t just win over fans and sponsors, they also earned public recognition and media coverage.

Our efforts culminated in the club becoming a finalist for two categories in the 2025 Menter Aberystwyth Business Awards. Competing for the Aberystwyth Ambassador Award and Welsh Language Champion Award highlighted how far the club’s community impact and inclusivity had come. It was an honour to see a football club in contention alongside businesses for these awards, showcasing the broader role ATFC plays in the town.

Moreover, specific projects gained their own spotlight. The creative ATFC sticker book attracted national press and even a radio feature, bringing positive publicity to the club across Wales. We turned what could have been a simple piece of merchandise into a story that journalists loved, positioning the club as forward-thinking and fun. Additionally, our beautifully revamped matchday programme, The Seasider, was recognized as an award-winning programme in its own right, demonstrating excellence in content and design that outshone many others in the league.

  • Business Awards finalists: Aberystwyth Town FC was shortlisted as a top contender for the Ambassador and Welsh Language Champion awards in 2025. This acknowledgment by the local business community solidified the club’s reputation for community engagement and bilingual communication.

  • National media coverage: Club initiatives earned press beyond our locality. The sticker book campaign in particular received coverage on national radio and newspapers, raising ATFC’s profile across the country. People were talking about our little Welsh club’s big ideas, which is invaluable publicity that money can’t buy.

  • Award-winning publications: Our matchday programme was transformed from a standard issue into an award-winning publication (recognized for its quality content and design). This not only delighted our regular programme readers but also demonstrated the professional standards of ATFC’s media output to any outsider picking it up.

  • Enhanced club image: Collectively, these accolades and media mentions boosted the club’s image. ATFC is now seen as a progressive, community-centered club. This positive public image helps in every aspect, from attracting sponsors who want to associate with a reputable club, to convincing players and staff to join, to instilling pride in supporters. The awards night and press clippings became celebration points for everyone connected to Aberystwyth Town.

  • Motivation to continue innovating: Being recognised publicly has further motivated the club (and me personally) to keep pushing the envelope. It sets a benchmark for future projects, we know the community and media are watching and appreciating our efforts, so we aim to continue delivering award-worthy initiatives.
