Alexa and Advertising

It looks as though 2018 is going to be a good year for Amazon. Considering it sold “tens of millions of Alexa-enabled-devices” worldwide it comes as no surprise that it’s now looking to ways of promoting these gadgets further.

Some discussions have mentioned whether companies would pay for higher placement if a user searches for a product such as shampoo on the device. This essentially would mimic how paid search works on Google. Amazon has denied that it has any plans to add advertisements to Alexa.

This type of advertising would mean that brands wouldn’t have the ability to visually entice consumers, but will have the ability to interact with them that’s conversational.

Would you be put off by hearing blatant advertising on your Alexa device?
