It's all Pokemon GO GO GO

So by now you’ve heard of Pokemon Go, you’re either playing it or someone within 30 feet of you are playing it. You would think it’s just an app for small children looking for pocket monsters, catching them and training them to do battle; but it’s way more.

Last week when the app was released in the UK the servers at Nintendo crashed, the share price rocketed and more and more people, young and old left their homes or places of work; head down and phone out walking the streets looking for monsters.

If you have a small coffee shop, bakery or restaurant you need to get the app now and check if your location is a PokeStop or Pokemon gym, if it is then you’re in luck and you may have already noticed the extra footfall through the doors.

Don’t fight it, embrace it, tell people about it and watch more and more business come through your door; you could feature it in your marketing or signage. Pokémon GO has a purchasable in-game item called a “Lure Module” which attracts Pokémon to a particular PokeStop for 30 minutes. Those Pokémon it attracts? They’re visible to and attainable by everyone in the nearby vicinity. Use it during a typically slow period of your day to get more foot traffic, and then use your creativity to turn them into a paying customer.

Give the game time and soon you’ll be able to apply for a PokeStop or gym at your local business and maybe even house a rare Pokemon at your business, again all attracting possible new custom and perfect for marketing.

It might just be an app, it may only last a few months but jump on this while it’s hot, and if you need a hand with it and marketing your business to the gamers then just let us know. Remember you ‘gotta catch em all’ ;)
